The metaphor is obvious and the intent satrical. Paradoxically, intolerance is on the increase more because of the alleged sensitivity of the so-called politically correct than because of the dangerous activities of real racists and nutbars. We live in an age where the expression "zero tolerance" is blandly accepted, an age where we construct walls with reckless abandon and worry only about what is scribbled on them. This construction was completed on November 25, 1995.
